Composite Advantages
Haysite offers a wide range of fiberglass reinforced plastic composite products that deliver significant advantages compared to other material systems.
Electrical Insulation
Composites offer excellent insulative and dielectric
properties, with resistance to cold flow or creep under heat and pressure. Haysite electrical insulation products retain their desired
electrical properties without adverse affects to product strength and stability at elevated temperatures. Typical applications include:
high voltage appliance insulators, bus bar supports and barriers in switchgear, transformer spacers and supports, layer and core insulation
for dry type transformers, motor slot wedges, washers, brush plates and terminal boards.
Weight Savings
Composites offer significant weight reduction and high strength,
compared to wood and metal. This weight reduction, coupled with Haysite’s exensive range of molding compounds and unique compression
molding process, offers cost-efficiencies versus metal configurations.
Flame, Smoke and Toxicity
Haysite composite formulations are successfully tested
to meet the transit and building industry’s requirements for flame/smoke generation and smoke toxicity, meeting UL 94V-0 and
multiple ASTM specifications. Haysite compression molded composite panels exhibit excellent flame, smoke, and toxicity properties (FST)
and are uniquely engineered for use as a floor material in light transit rail car interiors, and multi-wheeled vehicle applications.
Corrosion Resistance
Haysite’s Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic materials
offer high chemical resistance coupled with low smoke and flame spread values. These composites are a standard product choice in harsh
laboratory environments such as liners for fume hoods. Haysite offers multiple corrosion resistant grades with very low water absorption
making them a perfect fit for the water and wastewater treatment industries.
Temperature Control
Specially engineered fiberglass reinforced thermoset
polyester composites offer superior energy efficiency, temperature control, and durability. Haysite’s family of mold and platen
insulation products, including Thermalate® and Heatmeiser®, provide proven, cost effective products for the plastic or rubber
molder.
Cost Savings
Composites offer cost savings due to weight reduction, part
number (SKU) consolidation, material cost reduction. Haysite engineering composites take this a step further, with over 60 years experience
in developing design and formulation advantages.
Structural Strength
Haysite has the ability to produce custom high strength
sheet and profiles with over 25 different grades in a wide range of sizes and thicknesses. Haysite composites exhibit significant compressive
strength, and will not take a compressive “set” when subject to extremely high pressures.
